Rebel MLA from Chandni Chowk Alka Lamba announced her resignation from AAP on Friday on Twitter and declared that she would be joining the Congress party. Now she met Congress interim President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday. This news triggered the buzz that she is going back to her parent party.
Who Is Alka Lamba?
Lamba started her political career with Congress in 1994 and now she has decided to go back to the party again. After working for 20 years in Congress, she joined the AAP. It was last month when she announced about leaving Delhi’s ruling party and contesting upcoming assembly election as an independent.
How Did She Give The Resignation?
Delhi MLA announced her resignation on Twitter and said it had now become the “Khas Aadmi Party”.
In her tweet, she mentioned the AAP leaders to accept her resignation on Twitter and said it had now become the “Khas Aadmi Party.”
What Did She Say In Her Resignation?
She took a swipe at AAP spokesperson Saurab Bhardwaj who said that they would even accept her resignation on Twitter.
Alka Lamba said that the “past 6 years have been a great period of good learning”, “ the time has come to say to Good-Bye to #AAP and to resign from the primary membership of the Party.”
Why Did She Resign?
After the AAP defeated in the Lok Sabha polls, she had sought accountability from party chief Arvind Kejriwal following her removal from the official WhatsApp group. Alka Lamba then refused to campaign for the party in the Lok Sabha polls and even stopped participating in Kejriwal’s roadshow after she was asked to walk behind his car during the event.
In April, Lamba got in a bitter Twitter rivalry with AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj, who taunted her and asked to resign from the party.
